What’s in the Bag | Tips & Tricks Tuesday

I am by no means an expert… since I’m FTM status. BUT, I did have my mom (who is an expert) help me pack my baby bag for the hospital, so I thought I’d share the contents.

First, the diaper bag itself. I have been looking forward to receiving this, and I was so excited to receive it as a gift from friends at my last baby shower!

It is a Ju-Ju-Be bag, and I chose the “Be Right Back” backpack style. In my experience of lugging around heavy purses and camera bags, I have found that my shoulders and neck thank me later when I go with this style, rather than burdening one of my shoulders with all the weight. It’s also so easy to wear on your back unnoticed while keeping both arms and hands free!

This bag is machine washable and comes in many different patterns, and includes a lot of pockets and compartments for storage. I can’t wait to start using it!

A peek inside…

I am sure everyone packs different items / amounts of items when packing their baby bag for the hospital… just like we all pack differently for vacation. But knowing I’ll be there two nights, I packed:

  • 1 silkie blanket (for baby)
  • 2 swaddles
  • 3 outfits (2 for the hospital and one for coming home)
  • 2 pairs of socks

I also know I’ll want to take a few pictures of baby in the hospital with a sweet outfit on, so I wanted a couple options 🙂

Also– another feature of the Ju-Ju-Be bag… I love how it opens up flat, which gives you tons of room to pack things in and an easy way to view it all!

Diapers, wipes, and plastic bags go in this compartment… I know the hospital supplies you with some, but I wanted this all packed and ready to go!

A close-up of the blankets. From L-R…

The silkie my mom made for baby boy. We received this at his gender reveal party… so she kept it gender neutral, not yet knowing what “he” would be, but I think it’s darling for a little boy!

The middle swaddle is so tiny and will be perfect for his newborn size. It’s made from organic cotton and comes from @triple_tiger (<follow them on Instagram!)

And the last one is the beloved Aden & Anais swaddle blanket– you just really can’t beat them. So soft with adorable patterns.

Onto the outfits…

One the sides: a tiny little elephant outfit and the to-die-for Kickee Pants brand for the skunk outfit. Seriously, SO soft and with the most darling patterns. I love the tiny little style of these.

And in the middle… a beautiful star gown with a matching hat for him to come home in.

Some more essentials…

Onesies and socks! And the tiny little baby lotion, powder and wash.

I can’t wait to become a diaper-bag-packing-momma-pro, and when I do, I’ll let you know some tricks I learn along the way. But until then, here’s just a fun little peak into the sweet little baby-things going with us to the hospital.

I’m 36 weeks+2 today… I’ll be needing this bag sooner rather than later at this point!!!

And one other thing… if you’re a seasoned mama (or even if you’re not!) and you have some ideas / advice to share on what you have found works well with your diaper bag contents, let me know!
